KBF Announces “Run for Kevin” — A 5K & 10K Walk/Run of Purpose at the Palm Beaches Marathon

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wellington, FL – Nov. 6, 2025

The Kevin Babington Foundation (KBF) is calling all runners, riders, and changemakers to join the “Run for Kevin” 5K & 10K during the Palm Beaches Marathon Weekend, taking place Saturday, December 13, 2025 along the stunning, palm-lined waterfront of West Palm Beach, Florida.

This unique event merges fitness, philanthropy, and community — giving participants the chance to run/walk for something far greater than the finish line. Each entry purchased through KBFEvents.com directly supports the Foundation’s mission to empower equestrian athletes, inspire leadership through sport, and carry forward the legacy of perseverance and passion that defines Kevin Babington.

“The Run for Kevin is a celebration of spirit — the kind of unwavering drive that Kevin represents,” said Jeff Papows, Chairman of the Kevin Babington Foundation. “Every step taken on that course is a statement of solidarity, hope, and heart. We’re not just running a race — we’re continuing a movement.”

Runners can choose between two race distances — the 5K or the 10K — both held Saturday morning and designed for maximum fun, camaraderie, and purpose. Participants will receive an official race entry, an exclusive KBF Hat and T-Shirt, and the opportunity to make a direct impact through donation tiers ranging from Standard to Rockstar.

If you are interested in doing the additional races hosted by the Palm Beach Marathon visit their website here: Palm Beach Marathon

“Kevin’s courage is a daily reminder that resilience is contagious,” added longtime supporter and friend Alan Griffin. “When you join this race, you’re not just running for Kevin — you’re running for everyone who needs to know that they’re not alone in their fight.”

About Kevin Babington Foundation:

In late August 2019, Kevin experienced a life-altering moment when he suffered a complete spinal cord injury following a fall during the 2019 Grand Prix at the Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton, NY, United States. In early September, Kevin underwent a critical surgery to stabilize the vertebrae in his neck. By mid-October of that same year, he had made significant progress, transitioning from relying on a ventilator for breathing to facing the challenge of being paralyzed from the neck down. Remarkably, just two months later, Kevin began teaching from his wheelchair. Today, he remains on a determined journey, actively participating in experimental stem cell therapy, holding onto the hope of regaining movement below the neck.

This life-altering event marked the inception of the Kevin Babington Foundation, which was established in 2019. Kevin Babington Foundation (KBF) has been created to provide funding and support for Equestrian Show Jumping Athletes who sustain spinal injuries. In addition to providing financial assistance the foundation will also strive to educate riders, trainers and show organizers about the most current safety measures designed to reduce the risk of serious injuries which can occur while riding.

Riding Safer, Riding Smarter: KBF and Seaver Redefine What It Means to Protect Our Riders

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wellington, FL – Oct. 29, 2025

In a sport defined by courage, precision, and partnership, safety must stand as the ultimate act of respect—for the horse, the rider, and the future of equestrian competition.

The Kevin Babington Foundation (KBF) and Seaver Safety Air Vests continue to lead that charge, combining cutting-edge technology with a cause rooted in purpose.

This partnership, now fully integrated into KBF’s rider-safety initiative, is not just working to protect lives—it’s changing the conversation around what “preparedness” means in the modern equestrian arena.

“Safety isn’t optional. It’s a choice we make for the people who love us, for the horses who trust us, and for the sport we all share,” said Jeff Papows, Chairman of the Kevin Babington Foundation. “The Seaver vest represents more than innovation—it represents progress, compassion, and the belief that prevention is the most powerful form of support we can offer.”

A Mission Born from Experience

The Kevin Babington Foundation was created in the wake of tragedy—one that reshaped how the equestrian community thinks about recovery, resilience, and readiness. Today, that mission continues not only through advocacy and financial support for riders but through proactive education and access to life-saving technology.

Seaver’s intelligent air-vest systems deliver millisecond inflation speeds, impact-absorbing protection, and lightweight comfort that riders can wear in every discipline. Each vest purchased through the KBF program carries the Foundation’s branding—a reminder of both its mission and its meaning.

And now, for the first time, these KBF-branded Seaver Air Vests can be ordered and delivered within 10 days, making safety more accessible than ever.

Changing Culture, Not Just Equipment

The partnership goes beyond product—it’s about reshaping culture. Together, KBF and Seaver are sparking a conversation about accountability, awareness, and the shared responsibility to protect riders before tragedy strikes.

Through clinics, outreach programs, and safety advocacy at major equestrian venues, KBF continues to highlight that air-vest technology is not just for professionals—it’s for anyone who swings a leg over a saddle.

“Kevin’s accident became a catalyst for change,” Papows added. “The best way to honor his courage is by preventing the next tragedy before it happens.”

KBF Announces New MAC Express Episode: “Second Chances and Service Dogs — The Redemption of Da’Von Patterson”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wellington, FL – Oct. 17, 2025

The Kevin Babington Foundation (KBF) is proud to announce the release of Episode 9 of The MAC Express podcast, titled “Second Chances and Service Dogs: The Redemption of Da’Von Patterson.” This powerful episode tells the remarkable story of Da’Von Patterson, whose journey from incarceration to transformation through Canine Support Teams (CST) stands as a beacon of hope, redemption, and the healing bond between people and dogs.

Hosted by Michael Cruciotti, The MAC Express continues its mission to explore stories that transcend sport and touch the core of humanity. In this episode, listeners meet Da’Von — a man once defined by his mistakes, now defined by his compassion. Through CST’s Prison Pup Program, Da’Von discovered purpose, faith, and the life-changing impact of service dogs trained to restore independence and dignity to others.

This story resonates deeply with the Kevin Babington Foundation, as Kevin Babington’s own service dog, Samantha, was trained by Canine Support Teams. Samantha’s presence has not only enhanced Kevin’s daily life but also symbolizes the incredible power of connection, empathy, and shared strength that CST fosters every day.

“Canine Support Teams and the Kevin Babington Foundation share the same heartbeat,” said Michael Cruciotti, with KBF and host of The MAC Express. “Both organizations believe in second chances, in courage, and in the ability to change lives — whether through rehabilitation, recovery, or the unconditional love of a service dog.”

As the Foundation continues to champion safety, recovery, and resilience in the equestrian community, this episode stands as a reminder that healing takes many forms — sometimes on four legs, and always with heart.

Listen to Episode 9: “Second Chances and Service Dogs — The Redemption of Da’Von Patterson” now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and at KevinBabingtonFoundation.org.

Athletes Supported: Real Riders, Real Stories, Real Impact

Over the years, the Kevin Babington Foundation (KBF) has been there when riders’ lives changed in an instant — providing financial aid, coordinating medical care, and building a community of hope that extends far beyond the ring.

These are just a few of the remarkable equestrians whose recoveries we’ve been honored to support through YOUR incredible generosity.

Jonathan Millar — A Spark of Hope When It Was Needed Most

After suffering a devastating injury, Canadian International Grand Prix rider Jonathan Millar received coordinated care through Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Harvard and Harvard Medecine arranged and supported by the Kevin Babington Foundation.

“I had hope when there was little — KBF made that difference.”
Jonathan Millar, via The MAC Express Podcast

His story reflects what happens when our community rallies together to ensure that no rider faces recovery alone.

Alexis Halbert — From Catastrophic Injury to Courageous Comeback

At just 15 years old, Alexis Halbert suffered a life-altering spinal cord injury during a show in North Carolina when her horse tragically flipped and landed on her. With no feeling below her waist, her future seemed uncertain.

With an incredible grant from the Kevin Babington Foundation, Alexis underwent life-saving surgery and began an intensive 78-day rehabilitation program at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.

“I can call myself one of the lucky ones.”
Alexis Halbert

Now walking unaided, back in school, and even back in the saddle, Alexis’s recovery has been described as “miraculous.” Her strength — and her advocacy for rider safety — continue to inspire equestrians around the world.

Kim Prince — Strength, Spirit, and the Power of Community

In June 2022, international show jumper Kim Prince suffered a spinal cord injury after a fall at the Upperville Colt & Horse Show. Following surgery at Inova Fairfax Hospital, she began an intensive rehabilitation program at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.

When she arrived, Kim could only move her left foot. Today, she’s walking again, back home in Virginia, teaching, and pushing forward with incredible determination.

“Kevin Babington is such an inspiration… and the Foundation that Jeff Papows has organized is just a godsend. They step up when people need help—and it’s real help.”
Kim Prince

The Kevin Babington Foundation established a fund to support Kim’s care and therapy. She continues to advocate for rider safety and community support, showing that strength is just as much about spirit as it is about recovery.

David Beisel — Faith, Family, and the Will to Walk Again

In March 2023, veteran show jumper David Beisel suffered a serious neck injury while competing at the World Equestrian Center in Ohio. After surgery to repair his C3–C4 vertebrae with a titanium disc and hardware, David began rehabilitation at the Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care in Cincinnati.

Just weeks later, he took his first steps.

“I had some parallel bars I was hanging on with my hands, but I had a real walk today,” he said. “That was pretty phenomenal.”
David Beisel

The Kevin Babington Foundation granted a significant amount to assist with his recovery — joining an incredible outpouring of community support.

“The support has been overwhelming,” David shared. “From the Roberts family, the Babington Foundation, and everyone who reached out — it’s just been really special. I’m thankful to be alive.”

Today, David continues his journey with gratitude, faith, and determination — a reminder that perseverance and community can overcome even the hardest setbacks.

Beyond the Arena: Medical Networks & Research That Save Lives

The Kevin Babington Foundation is more than financial aid — it’s a movement of care and connection. Through partnerships with leading institutions like the Shepherd Center, Massachusetts Eye and Ear, and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, KBF ensures riders have access to the best medical expertise available.

These institutions — and the volunteers who help bridge riders to them — have become vital lifelines for families facing the unimaginable.

Why It Matters — Now More Than Ever

The cost of spinal cord recovery has never been higher, and insurance rarely covers the extensive rehab, travel, equipment, and home modifications required for long-term recovery.

That’s where KBF steps in — and why fundraising efforts like Kevin’s Rockstars 2026 are more important than ever.

“The support has been incredible this year,” said Jeff Papows, Chairman of the Foundation. “But as we go into the winter season, when equestrian sport is at its peak, continued fundraising is essential. Your support helps save lives — and we need you.”

“This night is pure magic—it’s fun, it’s emotional, and it raises critical funds to support riders in their greatest moments of need,” said Jeff Papows, Chairman of the Kevin Babington Foundation. “If you’re planning to attend, buy your tickets EARLY! We sold out last year and this year’s demand is already skyrocketing.”

💫 A Cause That Matters — Now More Than Ever

The cost of supporting injured riders—rehabilitation, therapy, specialized equipment, travel, home modifications, and long-term care—has skyrocketed. What used to be difficult is now, for many families, completely out of reach.

That’s why fundraisers like Kevin’s Rockstars are not just important—they are essential. Every dollar raised provides critical, life-saving assistance to equestrians facing spinal cord injuries and life-altering trauma.

Your support doesn’t just help… it saves lives.

While we’re keeping the full performer lineup under wraps just a bit longer, expect jaw-dropping talent, crowd-favorite performances, and a few surprise performances that will blow the roof off the venue. Follow us over the coming weeks as we roll out this year’s elite cast of equestrian rockstars and celebrity guests!

🍷 Gourmet Catering by Ken Rose

This year’s event will once again feature world-class food by Ken Rose Catering, known for delivering elevated flavors and five-star service that rivals the best restaurants in Palm Beach.
