FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wellington, FL – Dec. 16, 2025
The Kevin Babington Foundation (KBF) extends its deepest gratitude to the equestrian community for an extraordinary weekend of support, generosity, and unity — one that powerfully reaffirmed the heart and soul of this industry.
Over the weekend, two very different events came together with one shared purpose: standing beside the Kevin Babington Foundation and supporting show jumping athletes facing life-altering spinal cord injuries. From the auction ring to the starting line, the outpouring of compassion was nothing short of inspiring.
A Small Horse with an Enormous Impact
At the prestigious Top Horse Auction at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, a miniature horse generously donated by Harrison Ford was featured as Lot #0, with proceeds benefiting the Kevin Babington Foundation. The moment captured the spirit of the night — proving that even the smallest horse can carry the biggest message of hope.
KBF extends heartfelt thanks to Juan Pablo and the entire Top Horse Auction team for their leadership and generosity in selecting the Foundation as a beneficiary and creating such a meaningful opportunity.
“Being included in the Top Horse Auction was incredibly humbling,” said Jeff Papows, Chairman of the Kevin Babington Foundation. “I know I have said this many times, but I am in utter awe of the support and generosity of this industry and the support they provide. This community consistently shows up for one another, and Lot #0 was a perfect symbol of how deeply people care.”

60 Strong — Running for Kevin
Just one day later, that same spirit carried over to the streets of West Palm Beach as 60 runners and walkers came together during the Palm Beaches Marathon Weekend to proudly Run for Kevin in the 5K and 10K races. We especially want to thank Alan Griffin for coordinating this event and the sponsors that proudly supported the team.
Thank you to: Savoy Stables, JTWG, Red Barn Farm/Willie Tynan Show Stables, Cunningham & Cunningham Livestock Insurance, STX, North Run Stables, Millar Brooke Farm, STL Construction, Talum Mexican Cuisine, Barn Walkers, Schuab Show Jumping, The Plaid Horse Magazine and Wellington International.
Equestrians, supporters, friends, and families rallied early Saturday morning, turning every mile into a statement of solidarity, resilience, and love. The turnout reflected not just participation, but commitment — to Kevin, Jonathon, Kim, Alexis and David to the Foundation, and to one another.
“To see 60 people come out and literally run for Kevin was incredibly moving,” Papows added. “Every step they took represented encouragement, belief, and community. This is what makes the Kevin Babington Foundation so special — people don’t just support the mission, they live it.”

Gratitude That Fuels the Future
Together, these two events showcased the remarkable compassion of the equestrian world and reinforced the Foundation’s mission to provide support, resources, and hope to athletes navigating life after spinal cord injury.
The Kevin Babington Foundation thanks every donor, bidder, runner, volunteer, and supporter who made this weekend possible. Your generosity does more than raise funds — it lifts spirits, builds strength, and reminds Kevin and so many others that they never walk alone.
As the show season continues and new initiatives approach, KBF looks ahead with gratitude and renewed purpose — fueled by an industry that continues to lead with heart.

About Kevin Babington Foundation:
In late August 2019, Kevin experienced a life-altering moment when he suffered a complete spinal cord injury following a fall during the 2019 Grand Prix at the Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton, NY, United States. In early September, Kevin underwent a critical surgery to stabilize the vertebrae in his neck. By mid-October of that same year, he had made significant progress, transitioning from relying on a ventilator for breathing to facing the challenge of being paralyzed from the neck down. Remarkably, just two months later, Kevin began teaching from his wheelchair. Today, he remains on a determined journey, actively participating in experimental stem cell therapy, holding onto the hope of regaining movement below the neck.
This life-altering event marked the inception of the Kevin Babington Foundation, which was established in 2019. Kevin Babington Foundation (KBF) has been created to provide funding and support for Equestrian Show Jumping Athletes who sustain spinal injuries. In addition to providing financial assistance the foundation will also strive to educate riders, trainers and show organizers about the most current safety measures designed to reduce the risk of serious injuries which can occur while riding.
